They call themselves The XX . They're from London, with a revolutionary style, that brings together traditional guitar-drum-bass rock sounds with the not so traditional era of electronic dance music. When I first listened to them ("Stars" still one of my favorites), I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of their music... It's so raw and pure that it sounds live. With every listen, it never gets old, just better. Their debut album is self-titled and IMO is amazing cover-to-cover, from Intro to end. Every song is unique, but inherently similar, so the entire track-listing just flows.
The four teens create bleakly minimal songs that are dark and romantic. The lyrics as well as the talent of the young musicians are definitely to be appreciated. I can always appreciate a band with two vocalist that sing equally... I think, in a way, the vague lyrics are ones which any young person can relate to, making their mysterious and haunting sound even more personal... Not to mention there is a male and a female vocalist, so there is balance.
But don't take my word for it, listen for yourself. (You can download here. You're welcome lol.)
